District 5580 is now calling for nominations for the office of District Governor for the Rotary year 2026-2027, and qualified Rotarians may submit a nomination for consideration by the District Nominating Committee.

The Rotary clubs in our district have many outstanding past presidents making a difference in their clubs and communities. Serving as District Governor is an opportunity for these committed Rotarians to bring the same leadership, skills and vision to District 5580. Now is the time for your club to nominate an outstanding Past President for District Governor 2026-27.

RECOGNITION OF DONORS
Submitted by: Tim LeClair

Contributions to The Rotary Foundation are the life blood of the Foundation.  Whether you contribute to Polio Plus, the Annual Fund, or the Endowment Fund, your contributions enable Rotary to continue their fight to END POLIO, and to do the humanitarian work that impacts our local and international communities through our local and international grants.
Rotary has many programs for recognizing contributions.  If you have heard one of my Foundation Presentations, we explain those recognition programs.  The most widely known recognition is perhaps the Paul Harris Fellow recognition.

CLUB NEWS

WE CAN ONLY SHARE YOUR CLUB'S NEWS, IF WE KNOW ABOUT YOUR CLUB'S NEWS!
The number one thing most clubs want to know is what is happening around the District, but we can't help spread the word if we don't know what your club is up to.
Please submit a summary of your club events, news and projects to Renae Ronquist and Gloria Mink by the 10th of each month. We can include information in our Monday Minutes and in our newsletter.
News can be sent to renae@surgetoday.com and gloriad5580@outlook.com.

BISMARCK EXCHANGE STUDENT
Submitted by: Christi M. Stonecipher

The Bismarck Rotary Club welcomed their inbound Youth Exchange Student, Andrea (pronounced Ahn-DRAY-uh) Gulino in August.  Andrea is from Catania, Italy, and will be staying with Rotarian Carl Jackson (pictured) and his family for his first semester and with the Dave and Karla Ehlis family the second semester.
Bismarck Rotarians also got to hear about last year's outbound student's adventures at their meeting on September 6.  Sophia Nelson spent a year in Taiwan and shared many photos and stories of her experience there.  (Spoiler alert:  she had a great time and would 100% do it again.  Also, "stinky tofu" absolutely earns its name, but doesn't taste quite as bad as it smells.)  Sophia took online classes from Bismarck Century High School while studying abroad so she could stay on track and will graduate this spring with the rest of her class.

DICKINSON HIGHWAY CLEAN-UP
Submitted By: Kris Fehr

The Rotary Club of Dickinson held its semi-annual Roadside Cleanup on August 16. The Club has been cleaning three miles of ditches along Interstate 94 near the Painted Canyon Visitor Center, gateway to Theodore Roosevelt National Park, for many years. Under the leadership of Rotarian Seth Poland, Rotarians Don Bares, Erv VanVeldhuizen, Todd Otto, Stepheny Reger and Angie Rabbitt, along with family members and our Cub Scout Charter Pack 28 made short work of this environmental project and enjoyed pizza in Belfield following the project.
